Mapo Tofu

It's appreciated by millions every day. It is easy, it's quick, it tastes yummy. Mapo Tofu is something which I have loved my entire life. They are fine and they look fantastic.

I used to eat this dish a lot in Japan. I tried to make this with the ingredients I already have in my house - without Sichuan chili beans paste and Sichuan peppercorns. So this recipe is not going to be a traditional taste but still I enjoy as a daily meal. I forgot to take step photos 🤠Will try again and take them!
Ingredients and spices that need to be Prepare to make Mapo Tofu:
- 2 tbsp chopped ginger
- 2 tbsp chopped garlic
- 150 g minced pork
- 2 tbsp chopped leek
- Salt and Pepper
- 1 packed Tofu
- 1.5 tbsp corn starch with 1.5 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- Chili flakes
- 1 tsp sliced leek
- For the sauce
- 150 ml water
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp miso
Steps to make to make Mapo Tofu
- In a frying pan - Put the olive oil, the chopped ginger and the garlic with low heat until it smells good.
- Add the minced pork and the chopped leek in the frying pan and heat until the pork becomes brown.
- Add a pinch of salt and pepper until taste is good.
- Cut the Tofu into 1.5cm cube.
- Add the Tofu, water, soy sauce and miso in the frying pan and boil for a while.
- In a cup - Mix the corn starch and water together.
- Turn off the heat of frying pan. Add the corn starch and water in the frying pan little by little and mix.
- Taste and adjust with salt. You can add chili flakes.
- Add sesame oil and the slice of leek and Enjoy!
